While the Lakers' 2019 Summer League squad doesn't offer the star power of last year's squad, they are coming off an impressive comeback win against the Sacramento Kings and look to be a scrappy bunch of players capable of staying in most games.
The No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft by the New Orleans Pelicans is in Las Vegas, where his first game on Friday is officially sold out and, predictably, a hot ticket on the resale markets.
New Orleans, which will see No. 1 pick Zion Williamson make his debut, is listed at 16/1.
The game between the Spurs and Magic, taking place next door at UNLV's Cox Pavilion - a smaller gym without a scoreboard over the court - initially continued as planned after the quake hit in the second quarter. While Jarrett Allen will stick around for a third straight Summer League, the team's lack of high draft picks - they haven't kept their own pick since 2010 - badly shows. He has also improved his shooting recently - at least 33% from the three-point line in each of the last two seasons.
‘Kawhi Watch’ reaches new level as National Basketball Association world awaits Leonard decision
It appears that another day will pass without an announcement from All-Star free agent Kawhi Leonard on where he will play next. The Doggfather posted this video to social media this week hoping to convince Leonard to come to Lakerland.
But it continued to be Williamson's show.
Veteran forward Eric McCree returned from the Italy and made a statement in his first game back in the National Basketball Association, leading the Magic in scoring, with 16 points.
Barrett and Williamson will be pitted against each other in the first day of play Friday at 9:30 p.m. ET. He was called up to the Los Angeles Lakers on March 31 and appeared in six games, averaging 4.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
With only minimum contracts left at their disposal, the Bucks will certainly aim to acquire veterans such as rumored target Kyle Korver, but there may also be room for some more unproven players to get their chance to shine too.
