Iran will break through internationally agreed limits on the size of its stockpile of low-enriched uranium in 10 days, but there is still time for European countries to save a nuclear deal, its atomic agency spokesman said on Monday.
"We will go further from that ceiling, not only that but we will also increase production drastically,"Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi said on Monday from his country's Arak nuclear plant".
Iran has threatened to go even further in scaling down nuclear commitments by July 8 unless remaining partners to the deal - Britain, China, France, Germany and Russian Federation - help it circumvent United States sanctions and especially enable it to sell its oil.
"Should Iran deliver on its threats, the worldwide community will have to implement, immediately, the pre-set sanctions mechanism", Netanyahu said a speech following Tehran's announcement.
A day earlier, Pompeo said the Trump administration is still mulling military action against Iran.
The current deal restricts the amount of enriched uranium Iran is allowed to stockpile in return for favourable economic treatment from major European economies.
"Secretary General Schmid also used this opportunity to reiterate the EU's continued commitment to the JCPOA which is key to increasing stability and security in the Middle East and a crucial element of the global Non-Proliferation Treaty", the statement said.
Meanwhile, the US has blamed Iran for attacks on two ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz last week and other attacks in recent weeks in the Mideast, claims Tehran has denied.
Iran has told these nations that it will only adhere to the guidelines laid out by the deal if they can agree to circumvent the sanctions that the US has slapped on Iran.
