Family members of David and Michelle Paul said the couple headed out to Fiji and began feeling sick right before they were expected to head home.
David Paul and Michelle Calanog Paul from Fort Worth in Texas arrived in Fiji for a holiday on 22 May and reportedly died within days of each other.
"The Embassy has facilitated contact between the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Fiji's Ministry of Health to ascertain the causes of death and to assist in any related measures".
He goes on to say that he has instructed the embassy not to do any cremation until he's satisfied with the investigation of what caused the couple's death.

David Paul, an Air Force veteran, and his wife Michelle had a 2-year-old son in Fort Worth.
"We appreciate the efforts made thus far by the Fijian authorities and stand ready to provide further assistance, if requested", the embassy said. If it is, she said their bodies will have to be cremated. The report said that Michelle Paul may have died first before her husband. The family was also told that David Paul was in critical condition and the hospital planned to transfer him to Australia for treatment, but he died before this could happen. One theory is that David and Michelle died from a severe strain of flu that has been sweeping the South Pacific.
