The EU and several of Venezuela's neighbours protested Mr Zambrano's arrest while the country's Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza vowed to bring to justice "accomplices to an unconstitutional military uprising".
"They are trying to destroy the power representing all Venezuelans, but they will not achieve it".
"If the Americans were to propose a military intervention I would probably accept it", he said in an interview with Italian daily newspaper La Stampa.
Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido on Thursday accused President Nicolas Maduro's government of "dismantling" the National Assembly legislature he heads following the arrest of his deputy Edgar Zambrano.
Guaido, who has been trying to oust President Nicolas Maduro, said Edgar Zambrano had been "kidnapped" with the USA warned of "consequences" if he is not released.
About 50 countries, including the United States and much of Latin America, have recognized Guaido as the country's legitimate leader.
It is a clear sign that President Nicolas Maduro's government has begun going after foes tied to a failed attempt to stir up a military uprising last week.
Blanco was one of the ten opposition lawmakers who was stripped of parliamentary immunity by the Supreme Court this week.

Shortly before his arrest, Zambrano said on Twitter that agents of the Bolivarian Intelligence Service had encircled his vehicle outside the headquarters of the Democratic Action party. The politician himself was able to denounce on Twitter what was happening to him, as he wrote: "We were surprised by SEBIN, and after refusing to leave our vehicle, they used a crane to take us directly to the Helicoide [a political prison in Caracas]".
But analysts say there are limits to how far Mr Maduro can crack down, and that any attempt to arrest Mr Guaido risks inviting a strong response from the United States, which has warned of "grave consequences" should the opposition leader be harmed.
"This assault on the National Assembly should serve as a clarion call to the region and the world that the dictatorship is not interested in constitutional solutions to the Venezuelan people's problems".
Maduro has not tried to arrest Guaido, who declared himself interim president of Venezuela in January.

The ANC revoked the legal immunity for seven members of the National Assembly on Tuesday who had participated in the failed coup, including Zambrano.
