Magic Johnson surprised reporters Tuesday when he announced plans to step down as president of basketball operations for the Lakers. Johnson and the Lakers have received several tampering fines from the National Basketball Association for commenting on various players around the league.
"I think I had more fun when I was able to be the big brother and the ambassador to everybody", Johnson he said. "He needs more time", Stoudemire said. I want to go back to having fun. "What am I doing, you know I have a attractive life, so I'm gonna go back to that handsome life".
Johnson took the job in February 2017, as general manager Mitch Kupchak was sacked and Jim Buss was removed as executive vice president of basketball operations.
Moncrief Elected to Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame
He coached the Warriors for 14 season after he retired in 1971, including the 1974-1975 championship-winning season. He was named an NBA All-Star five times in total and won the Comeback Player of the Year Award with NY in 1982-83.
Johnson strongly hinted during his press conference that he planned to fire head coach Luke Walton after the team's final regular season game on Tuesday night but that will not happen now. "And what's important to me is, I get to help everybody within the Lakers". "And I thought about it and I said, 'That's not fun for me".
Smith said that he has no idea and can not believe why Johnson quit as Lakers president. He stated that he is a "free bird" now that he is leaving his position but declined to comment on the futures of Walton and general manager Rob Pelinka.
"I'm not talking two or three games here, everyone is back in the lineup". The Lakers have not made the playoffs since 2013. However, LeBron's first season in Los Angeles hasn't gone as planned. Most fans expressed their surprise with visual mediums, such as a photo of Will Smith walking into an empty home in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air along with the caption, "Jeanie Buss when she walks into Magic Johnson's office tomorrow morning". The decision on whether or not to retain Walton would've been Magic's to make, but with him gone everything is now in question.
