Special Counsel Robert Mueller found no evidence of collusion between President Donald Trump's campaign team and Russian Federation, and did not present enough evidence to warrant charging Trump with obstruction of justice, U.S. Attorney General William Barr said on Sunday.
Comey posted a photograph of tall trees with a caption reading "so many questions" shortly after Attorney General William Barr released a summary of investigative findings by special counsel Robert Mueller.
Trump, who decried the probe as a witch hunt and waste of time, was at his resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
The full extent of Mueller's findings, including evidence concerning obstruction of justice, will remain unknowable until a more complete version of the report is released.
It was a good day for the US president. Mueller specifically opted not to reach a conclusion on the issue, allowing others to look at evidence and make their own decisions. Trump said, according to White House spokesman Hogan Gidley.
Whatever the report concludes, Democrats vowed to pursue investigations on a wide range of issues involving Trump, from his business dealings to hush-money payments.
Instead, Barr ultimately made the call that Trump didn't violate the law, a move that quickly drew criticism from House Democrats who say the president is hardly in the clear.
"And most obviously, for the president to say he is completely exonerated directly contradicts the words of Mr. Mueller and is not to be taken with any degree of credibility".
Furthermore, Mueller, who spent almost two years investigating allegations that Russian Federation meddled in the 2016 election to help Trump defeat his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton, did not say whether a crime was committed, instead leaving that determination to the attorney general.
Democratic and Republican lawmakers disagree about whether no criminal charges meant there was no cooperation between the Trump campaign and Moscow.
"We know there was collusion".

After reading the report, Mr Barr said he believed there was not enough evidence to establish the President had committed a crime.
But when it came to obstruction of justice, Mueller explicitly did not fully absolve the president.
In the letter, Barr said he concluded that none of Trump's actions constituted a federal crime that prosecutors could prove in court. "And hopefully, somebody's going to be looking at the other side".
Nadler wasn't the only Democratic leader to weigh in on Sunday.
That finding is certain to be a key bone of contention for congressional Democrats who are investigating Trump and his administration, especially given the Special Counsel's assertion that "while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him".
"While Mueller's investigators uncovered evidence of Russian meddling in the USA election, "[the] investigation did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities", the summary quotes Mueller as writing.
Mr Trump's former national security adviser Flynn, his former personal lawyer Cohen and his campaign chairman Manafort are among the 34 individuals already indicted by Mr Mueller, but they will be the last, according to Mr Barr.
President Donald Trump and members of his team have repeatedly rejected all accusations concerning any collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation. His only public statements on Sunday were two tweets: "Good morning. KEEP AMERICA GREAT!" he wrote on the micro-blogging site.
On the other hand, Barr said Mueller declined to reach a decision on the evidence against the president of obstruction - nearly guaranteeing that Democrats in Congress will push to investigate this further. Russian Federation says it did not interfere in the election.
