Beginning in 2020, the NASCAR season will not end in South Florida, breaking a run of almost two decades hosting Championship Weekend.
Starting in 2020, the race will be the final event of the NASCAR regular season.
The race remained in August for several years until it moved to July in 2007.
Martinsville Speedway got a Mother's Day race under the lights and also a slot in the playoffs - one of three short tracks featured in NASCAR's 10-race playoffs. Atlanta will move to Sunday, March 15 followed by Miami on Sunday, March 22.

"Pocono Raceway will be a marquee, bucket-list event next year", said Pocono CEO Nick Igdalsky. Speedway President Clay Campbell noted fans have asked "literally every single day since we installed the lights" when Martinsville would have a Cup race at night.
The first elimination race in the playoffs will be the Bristol short track. "Darlington Raceway, considered one of the toughest tracks on the circuit, will definitely challenge the drivers right from the start of the postseason". Las Vegas also follows the February 16 Daytona 500 as the first race of NASCAR annual trip West.
NASCAR made the announcement Tuesday as it unveiled its 2020 schedule. "Now they can, so we're looking forward to them joining us for our new race date".
