On Tuesday, First Assistant State's Attorney Joe Magats, who made a decision to drop the charges against Smollett, said he still believes the actor was guilty.
"Recusing herself, but not her administration, is a distinction without a difference", Fraternal Order of Police Second Vice President Martin Preib told The New York Post. Bianchi argued that Smollett should've pleaded guilty, paid restitution, and spent time in jail. After Smollett was declared a suspect in the investigation in February, multiple reports alleged the actor staged the attack because he wasn't satisfied with his Empire salary.
"There was no political influence in this case", Patricia Brown Holmes said.
Smollett's lawyers claimed earlier on Tuesday that the dropped and expunged charges were not part of any deal and that the actor is free to move on from this situation, which goes against what Magats is saying now. "Frankly, I've never seen anything like this before", Lewis said.
"When I know someone, there's nothing you can say to make me flip on them, and that's what we miss in this world".
Jussie Smollett is in the clear legally, but he has many still questioning his innocence, including the prosecutor who dropped all the charges against the actor in a stunning turn of events.
Russian FM says specialists in Venezuela legitimate, citing mutual agreement
For almost a week it left millions of people struggling to obtain food and water and hospitals without power to treat the sick. Earlier, a local newspaper reported that the power was out at Venezuela's main worldwide airport outside Caracas.
The state's attorney, a Democrat who was elected in 2016, was asked whether she thought Smollett was guilty of lying to police.
"A lot of valuable Chicago Police Department (CPD) man hours and resources were wasted chasing down a bogus crime arranged by Smollett", McAuliffe said in the statement.
After the Chicago Police Department investigated the incident, the police and state's attorney worked to secure indictments against Smollett for allegedly staging his own beatdown.
The 36-year-old maintains that he is the victim of a vicious attack, but Chicago's mayor and police chief say they believe it was orchestrated as a publicity stunt.
Superintendent Eddie Johnson: "Do I think justice was served? No". Smollett said that a late-night trip to a Subway restaurant in Chicago led to two men attacking him, putting a noose on him, and pouring on him a substance he believed to be bleach.
"They were thinking, I'm going to help my friend".
