As you'd expect, the one-off retains the firm's familiar 8,0-litre 16-cylinder engine, which again churns out a whopping 1 103 kW and 1 600 N.m (and culminates with as many as six tailpipes). We have just succeeded in doing so with La Voiture Noire'. A sky view glass panel will be offered as standard on the special edition, which includes two glass panels in the roof divided by a central spine.

The body of the Voiture Noire is made of carbon fibre and like every other Bugatti, it has been entirely constructed by hand. It's supremely streamlined with a dorsal fin running from the front of the vehicle all the way back and a windshield that flows seamlessly into the windows like a helmet.

Molsheim was and still is a key element in Bugatti's brand history. It too was known as La Voiture Noire, and was originally delivered to Jean Bugatti, son of company founder Ettore Bugatti.
