The Associated Press said it saw a redacted portion of the filing by the Manafort lawyers that wasn't properly blacked out showing that Manafort lied about sharing political polling data with Kilimnik while he was working on the Trump campaign.
Both men were indicted in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian election interference and possible coordination with the Trump campaign.
At around the same time, Russian government operatives were allegedly hacking Democratic computers to help Trump and orchestrating a social media propaganda scheme to sway voters against his electoral opponents, CNN said. The Mueller team accused him in November of breaking that deal by lying to investigators.
Additionally, the US Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled against a mystery foreign company for defying a grand jury subpoena related to the special counsel's inquiry.
Manafort's filing also acknowledges he met with Kilimnik in Madrid.
Manafort met Kiliminik in Madrid in January or February 2017, according to Manafort spokesman Jason Maloni.
The latest allegations further detail how Manafort's work on the campaign intersected with his past worldwide work with Kilimnik.
Manafort's attorneys disputed the characterization Manafort authorized the unnamed person to communicate with Trump on his behalf, according to the redacted details of the filing, The Hill reported.
Kilimnik has not entered a plea in USA courts, and Manafort has pleaded guilty to the witness tampering allegation and has been convicted on several lobbying-related financial crimes. This includes his connection with former business partner Konstanin Kilimnik, a Ukrainian accused by prosecutors of having ties to Russian intelligence.

The document noted Manafort has been in jail since June 15, 2018, when the court remanded him into custody.
