Several people, including a police officer, were injured after a person opened fire, reportedly with a semi-automatic, gun at a bar in the USA state of California.
A Ventura County Sheriff's Office official said approximately 30 shots had been fired inside the building.
A sheriff's deputy was among those shot, reports said, adding that there were around a 100 patrons inside the nightclub when the shooting began.
Witnesses who were at the bar are describing a scene of panic.
Borderline, which bills itself as the "biggest dance floor in town", had been hosting an event called "College Country Night" when the shooting occurred.
Witnesses told CNN the attacker had a large handgun, wore a black trench coat and glasses and threw smoke grenades inside the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks.
There were unconfirmed reports of multiple shots fired and that the suspect may have been hit, as well a deputy.

On Wednesday night, students had gathered for college country night, which was between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m., according to the bar's website.
"Thousand Oaks is a very safe community", Kuredjian said.
Officers on the scene said at least 30 shots had been fired and that victims would be at multiple locations as they fled, local media reported.
"We have dozens of people behind me who are looking to secure this situation", he said.
Thousand Oaks is a city of about 130,000 people about 40 miles (64 kilometers) west of Los Angeles, just across the county line.
Authorities urged the public to avoid the area.
