Dean identified the suspect as Ian David Long, a Marine Corps veteran and resident of Thousand Oaks, an upscale city northwest of Los Angeles.
Helus died at about 2 a.m.at Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks.

"It looked like he knew what he was doing".
Authorities have not yet determined a motive for the killings.
