We love the holiday season and even though we celebrate Christmas, I like to teach my kids about other religions and traditions. My kids have learned about Chanukah and they know that Chanukah is the Jewish Festival of Lights. They know the holiday commemorates a time when the Jewish temple was destroyed and as a result, there was only enough oil to light the ceremonial lamp for one day, but the miracle was the oil lasted for eight days. For that reason, Jewish people celebrate eight days of Chanukah. They know about the menorah and the dreidel, but what they don’t know about is the type of foods they eat. During Chanukah Jewish people eat a lot of foods fried in oil. Manischewitz is the nation’s largest manufacturer of processed kosher food products and they sent us three interactive, DIY Chanukah dessert-making kits.

While many people are aware of the tradition of potato pancakes or latkes, another popular tradition includes celebrating the holiday with sufganiot or donuts. My kids love donuts and were so excited about the Chanukah Donut Mix.

The kit makes it so easy to make these donuts. You just add the mix to milk and eggs and then form it into the shapes you want and fry it in oil. It comes with powder sugar and sprinkles.

It was a lot of fun and the donuts tasted delicious! They are cake-like donuts, which is our favorite kind of donuts. This would make a fun and easy treat for Chanukah.

We also received Chanukah Cookie Kits. We received the Dreidel cookies and the Star of David cookies. The cookies are vanilla cookies and each kit had one tube of icing. It’s too bad it doesn’t come with more icing, but this was enough to outline the lines on the cookies.

My kids had so much fun decorating the cookies and they seemed to really enjoy eating them too. I tried the cookies and I didn’t think they tasted that great, but my kids ate them up and that’s all that matters to me.

The final product we received was the Chanukah House Decorating Kit. My kids could not wait to make this! It’s vanilla cookies that are shaped like a house. It comes with everything you need and instructions were so easy to follow.

My kids really enjoyed building their Chanukah house and it was fun to see them get creative, yet also use the box as a guide. It was easy enough that even my 2 year old was able to help decorate.

So whether you celebrate Chanukah or just want to immerse yourself or your family in some Chanukah traditions, then Manischewitz is the place for you to visit. Also, be sure to follow them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest to stay up to date on all the latest news and deals.
