Starting New Traditions: The Thanksgiving Box

I love traditions and when we started having kids there were many Christmas traditions that we started and continue, but I also love adding new ones. This year we have added a new one called The Thanksgiving Box. It’s a lot like a Christmas Eve Box, but you give it to your child right after Thanksgiving and it is filled with things to enjoy during the Christmas season.

We gave our kids their Thanksgiving Boxes the day after Thanksgiving and they were a huge hit! I filled each box (the boxes I found at the dollar store and I love that they are sturdy, cute boxes that I can use each year) with Christmas pajamas, a Christmas book, a Christmas movie, some Christmas candy, and a new ornament for our tree.

We have already been enjoying reading the Christmas books, wearing the pajamas, and watching Christmas movies. Plus the ornaments are of course already on our tree now. I definitely think we will be doing this tradition every year now. What are some traditions you do with your family?

I think this is such a great idea! I like the items you gave them and what a nice treat to cheer the kids up with!

  2. What a fun tradition! My grandmother always gave each child a Christmas coloring book on Thanksgiving.

  3. That’s a cute idea. Especially since for Christmas themed gifts like christmas movies, CD’s, and books you want them to enjoy it before and day of Christmas.

  5. This is such a cute idea! I bet this box really gets them into the holiday spirit and so excited!
