Being a mom is something I always knew that I wanted to be since I was a little girl. Of course, back then I was just mothering dolls that actually let me get them dressed, didn’t cry or whine, and never made messes. Mother-hood is not quite the way my 6 year old self had dreamed it to be, but in other ways it’s better than I could have ever imagines.  Then there are the days where I feel like I never get a moment to myself with all the late nights, sticky messes, scraped knees, over-packed schedules, and early morning wake-up calls. I have definitely learned to take those rare moments when they come because I know another disaster is just around the corner. My 2nd child really kept me on my toes. A good example of this would be the first time we took them to see Disney on Ice.

I had just got Noah ready (he was 18 months old back then) and I was busy getting my 4 year old dressed. I was just putting his shoes on when I suddenly felt a sticky glob patted into my hair. I turned around to see Noah with a huge grin on his face and then my eyes took in his whole appearance…

He had Vaseline caked into his entire hair and yes, that glob he put onto my hair was also Vaseline. We were literally about to walk out the door and then of course he did this. I quickly stripped him and put him into the shower and I discovered that shampoo does NOT get out Vaseline. Finally we had to just leave with his hair looking like I poured a whole bottle of gel on it. It took days for us to get this out of his hair, we finally discovered the dish soap does the job.

My kids definitely keep me on my toes and some days I dream about getting to go to bed early and sleep-in late, eat without having to give bites of my food to everyone, and actually read a book. Then suddenly a new disaster strikes, this time it’s a sick child and that’s when nothing else seems to matter. It doesn’t matter how crazy they make you some days, all you want is for your child to get better. Nothing else matters.

The pediatric brands of Pfizer Consumer Healthcare have released a video depicting a small glimpse of what moms may feel and experience when their child is under the weather. Take a look at it and let me know if you can relate.

I can completely relate to this video and it’s exactly how I feel. Yes my mom dreams include peeing in peace and making something amazing off of Pinterest without being interrupted every 10 seconds, but the reality is that NOTHING compares to knowing your baby is healthy and happy. What a great video, it made me laugh since I could completely relate to it, but it also is a great reminder that when kids get sick, nothing else matters. Sick just got real.™

Our little one got a bad flu bug this year and was down in bed for about 4 days running a high temp…that was about the only symptom. He just layed there…was so hard to watch.
