Are you ready for Easter? CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution have some great Easter Basket ideas for you. We were sent an adorable Easter basket filled with fun goodies and 4 great movies.

In our basket we received bubbles, an Easter rubber ducky, Peeps, Plush Bunny Ears, Dorothy In The Land of Oz DVD, Peter & The Magic Egg DVD, Puff The Magic Dragon DVD and Strawberry Shortcake: Double Feature DVD.

The bunny ears were a big hit with my kids! They were also very excited about the other goodies and couldn’t wait to start watching the movies.

Dorothy In The Land of Oz
Come join Dorothy, and her new friends the Wizard, the Lion, the Tin Man and the Scarecrow on an unforgettable adventure when this Dove Family-approved special Dorothy in the Land of Oz arrives on DVD. In addition to these iconic characters, meet the newest members of the Oz family: Jack Pumpkinhead, Tik-Tok, Tyrone the Terrible Toy Tinker and the Hungry Tiger.

My kids have never seen the Wizard of Oz or any movie like that, so this was their first experience with these kinds of characters. This movie was a great way to teach them about some of my favorite characters without scaring them. They liked it and especially loved Jack Pumpkinhead!
Peter & The Magic Egg
Just in time for Easter comes the heartwarming family adventure, Peter & The Magic Egg on DVD. Peter’s family farm is in danger of being repossessed by the greedy Tobias Tin Whiskers, who has bought the whole village and renamed it “Tin Town.” With no money to save their home, Peter soon meets the Easter Bunny and joins with him to save the holiday, and the farm. The magical tale features the voice talents of Ray Bolger (The Wizard of Oz) and Russi Taylor (The Simpsons).

This movie was a great Easter movie to watch! My kids loved it and they were glued to the movie the whole time. It was a great film that the whole family enjoyed watching together.
Puff The Magic Dragon

Relive three classic adventures when the Dove Family-approved collection Puff The Magic Dragon Triple Feature arrives on DVD, just in time for Easter. Based on the famous song by Peter, Paul & Mary, Puff the Magic Dragon comes to life in these three stories of friendship, courage, caring, and fantasy. This family-friendly set stars Academy Award® nominee Burgess Meredith as the voice of Puff and includes the following adventures:

  • Puff The Magic Dragon
  • In The Land of Living Lies
  • Puff and the Incredible Mr. Nobody

This movie had 3 features, so it was a longer movie than the others. My kids liked Puff the Magic Dragon and thought the first two features were good, but lost interest by the time we watched the third. I personally loved the In The Land of Living Lies which teaches your kids to be honest and not lie.
Strawberry Shortcake: Double Feature
One of television’s most beloved animated heroines returns in the Dove Family-approved Strawberry Shortcake: Double Feature – The World Of Strawberry Shortcake / Strawberry Shortcake In Big Apple City, arriving on DVD this February. In The World Of Strawberry Shortcake, Strawberry and her friends Huckleberry Pie, Blueberry Muffin, Raspberry Tart and Plum Pudding celebrate her sixth birthday. While her birthday preparation is underway, a villain called the Peculiar Purple Pieman plots to steal the berries from Strawberry’s home in order to bake his pies. Strawberry Shortcake In Big Apple City sees Strawberry compete with the Peculiar Purple Pieman in a televised bake

I wasn’t sure if my boys would enjoy this movie, but they did! They loved all the names of the characters and loved that the first episode was about birthdays (their favorite thing to talk about right now). It was a cute movie and I grew up watching Strawberry Shortcake and even though this movie is not like the original Strawberry Shortcake, it was still a fun movie to watch as a family.

The movies were really cute and reminded me of the movies I grew up with since the animations were similar to the ones I grew up with versus a lot of the animations they have today. All of the movies had great life lessons such as honesty, friendship, bravery, imagination, teamwork, and so much more! So if you are looking for some Easter Basket filler ideas, any of these would be great additions.
